On the afternoon of January 7, at the National Conference to study, study, thoroughly grasp and implement the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Politburo Member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung presented the topic "Developing foreign affairs in the new era, commensurate with the historical and cultural stature and position of the country".
The special topic on "Developing foreign affairs in the new era, commensurate with the historical, cultural and position of the country" focuses on 3 major contents: Foreign policy guidelines of the 14th Party Congress, especially some new and outstanding points; Requirements for "Developing foreign affairs in the new era, commensurate with the historical, cultural and position of the country"; Action orientations for developing foreign affairs in the new era.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung pointed out that, besides the core and consistent contents, this time the 14th Party Congress has supplemented many new contents in the document, very important in the foreign policy, in which the following are prominent:
First, emphasizing the goal of "Developing foreign affairs in the new era, commensurate with the historical, cultural and position of the country".
Second, supplement the viewpoint of "strategic autonomy", "self-reliance".
Third, affirming the role and mission of foreign affairs and international integration is important and regular. The document clearly stated "promoting foreign affairs and international integration is important and regular".
Regarding a number of specific orientations and actions to develop foreign affairs in the new era commensurate with the historical, cultural and position of the country, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs proposed that all levels and sectors focus on implementing 5 key tasks:
First, unify the awareness in the entire political system about the mission, goals, and tasks, about the role and position of foreign affairs according to the Party's 14th Congress's guidelines, especially the requirements and "important and regular" tasks to understand correctly, fully and deeply and unify actions throughout the political system.
Second, urgently institutionalize and concretize the foreign policy of the 14th Party Congress.
Third, promote the building and implementation of a comprehensive foreign policy strategy at a new height on the 3 pillars of Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's foreign affairs and in all foreign affairs fields.
Regarding this content, Minister Le Hoai Trung emphasized that it is necessary to "further expand the network of cooperative relations not only with traditional partners who are countries and organizations but also with partners that the country is in need of promoting (such as large technology corporations, especially in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum, semiconductor...).
Promote diplomacy to serve development, focusing on economic diplomacy and technology diplomacy, contributing to bringing the country to rapid and sustainable development.
With the spirit of "not letting a day be wasted, a week delayed", promptly, effectively, and creatively implement all important areas of foreign affairs work, including cultural foreign affairs and cultural diplomacy activities.
Grasp the situation, do a good job of research, forecasting, and advising the Party, absolutely do not let the country be passive or surprised in any situation".
Fourth, allocate appropriate resources for foreign affairs commensurate with the new position and strength of the country and the requirements of tasks in the new situation. Building comprehensive, modern, and professional diplomacy on all 3 pillars of Party foreign affairs, State foreign affairs, and people's foreign affairs.
Fifth, further strengthen the effective and synchronous coordination between departments, ministries, branches, provinces, cities, localities, between foreign affairs forces such as parliamentary foreign affairs, defense foreign affairs, people's police foreign affairs, local foreign affairs... and the business community, people at home and abroad in foreign affairs and international integration.
