The Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam (Agribank) as a Gold Sponsor is honored to accompany the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (abbreviated as the "Hanoi Convention") taking place over two days, October 25-26, 2025, at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, Hanoi. This is an important development step in international cooperation to enhance cybersecurity and create a trustworthy and transparent digital environment.
This event not only marks the first time Vietnam has hosted a United Nations multilateral Convention on Cybercrime but also affirms its position and capacity for global integration in the digital age. The Hanoi Convention - officially called the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime - was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 24, 2024, and opened for signing from October 25-26, 2025 in Hanoi.
Considered the first global criminal justice treaty in more than 20 years to establish a common international legal framework on cybercrime prevention, electronic evidence sharing, cross-border investigation cooperation and support weak countries in cybersecurity capacity. The event was prepared on a very large scale: More than 100 national delegations and international organizations confirmed their attendance as of early October 2025; In addition to the signing ceremony, there were about 8 discussion sessions, 32 thematic seminars and more than 20 international exhibition booths on technology, digital transformation and cybercrime prevention.
Vietnam's selection as host for the signing ceremony affirms the country's strong commitment to promoting digital law enforcement, multilateral cooperation and sustainable development in cyberspace. Specifically, in 2024, Agribank detected and handled hundreds of cyber attacks, blocked more than a hundred fake brand pages, supported hundreds of customers to be scammed online, and conducted tens of millions of system scans. In 2025, Agribank will continue to invest in modernizing technology infrastructure, implementing the IT Development Strategy and Digital Transformation Plan to 2025, with a vision to 2030, focusing on data security solutions, preventing cyber attacks, protecting access and ensuring system safety, helping customers feel secure when transacting on digital platforms.
Along with that, Agribank often recommends that customers be cautious: always check website information, fanpage and links carefully, verify through official channels before making transactions; do not provide OTP codes, passwords, personal information to anyone; only transact through the bank's official channels. Agribank also proactively informs customers widely through websites, fanpages, transaction points (more than 2,000 points nationwide) about common scams such as forging SMS messages, emails, calls from banks or impersonating police officers, prosecutors, etc. Thereby, Agribank hopes that each transaction of customers is not simply an operation, but a transaction protected in a safe digital environment and led by a responsible bank.
