On the morning of October 31, Mr. Bui Van Dung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An Tay Ward (Da Nang City) - said that the authorities had rescued 9 out of 10 victims whose boat capsized on the Thu Bon River, which occurred on the evening of October 29.
Currently, the units continue to search for Mr. Tang Van Xuan (1969, residing in An Bang Residential Group, Hoi An Tay Ward) - the remaining person is still missing.

Previously, on the evening of October 29, Mr. Thich Dong Van - Abbot of Minh Giac Pagoda (Hoi An Tay Ward) - along with Mr. Nguyen Thu (born in 1972, residing at 277 Dien Bien Phu) and Mr. Tang Van Xuan were on a small boat. At Thanh Ha fish market, the strong water capsized the boat, causing all three people to fall into the river. The group tried to hold to the nearby roof and called for help in the fierce water.
Immediately, local rescue forces and local people mobilized 3 boats and 7 people to approach the rescue (in life jackets); however, the strong water caused all 3 boats to continue to capsize. A total of 10 people fell into the water.

Despite the heavy rain, Hoi An Tay Ward Police and local authorities mobilized 2 boats of people from Nam Dieu group to the scene, saving 9 people safely, with Mr. Tang Van Xuan alone missing.
The ward's rescue forces coordinated with the police, militia and people to mobilize maximum manpower and means, dividing many search teams along the Thu Bon river area and the Thanh Ha fish market river section, in conditions of heavy rain, rising floodwaters and strong currents.
Mr. Bui Van Dung added that during the recent flood, Hoi An Tay ward planned to evacuate 48 households with 176 people, but in reality, more than 2,500 households with about 10,000 people were deeply flooded.

The government has urgently evacuated hundreds of households, mobilized all militia, police, and organizations to participate in evacuating people, and provided necessities to people in flooded areas.
"The flood water recedes slowly, the locality is taking advantage of the weather to temporarily stop the rain to both search for missing people and overcome the consequences of the flood," said Mr. Dung.
Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods
Consecutive storms and floods have caused many deaths, missing and injuries; many houses and production and business establishments have had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the northern mountainous provinces and the central provinces are struggling to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property due to floods and thunderstorms.
