Not only stopping at building solid roofs, many projects also focus on adding essential items such as slopes, embankments, and convenient walkways so that people with disabilities can live more safely and independently in their daily lives.
According to statistics from the province, as of mid-March 2025, Nghe An has newly built and repaired more than 12,700 houses for poor households and disadvantaged policy beneficiaries, including many households with disabilities. The projects are concentrated in mountainous areas, remote areas such as Que Phong, Quy Chau, Ky Son, Tuong Duong.
It is known that the program "Eliminate temporary houses, settle down to make a living" has brought a new home, helping many families to reduce worries and feel secure in stabilizing their lives.
A notable bright spot is the models of kindness houses. In Chau Tien commune (old Quy Chau district), Nghe An police coordinated with units and benefactors to donate 60 million VND to support the family of a disabled young man to build a new house. The house is not only sturdy but also has additional blades, a steep walkway has been renovated, creating favorable conditions for the owner to move. Small details but bring great humanitarian value, helping people with disabilities feel shared by the community.
Previously, the People's Committee of Nghe An province also directed to remove difficulties in implementing the program to repair and build houses for the poor in the period of 2023 - 2025. Relevant departments and branches require that when supporting people with disabilities, they need to pay attention to access factors such as wide doors, airy floors, low walkways, additional slopes and safety railings. These are small architectural innovations but bring about a big change in the ability of people with disabilities to integrate into social life.
Not only in housing, the province also cares about vocational training and integrated education. Nghe An Vocational Training Center for the Disabled, inaugurated in 2011, has designed friendly items such as classrooms, dormitories with steep roads, and hand-carved beginnings. This place has become a common home, helping hundreds of disabled students both learn a trade and have safe living conditions.
Practice shows that when people with disabilities live in a house that suits their needs, they not only depend less on relatives but also have more motivation to rise up and participate in community activities. Constructions such as slopes, piers, anti-smooth floors... although their material value is not large, are the "key" to opening the door to equality, giving opportunities for the disadvantaged to be more confident in life.
The results achieved in Nghe An are a vivid testament to the spirit of humanity and sharing, while affirming the determination of the government and the community in caring for the disabled, the poor and the disadvantaged. The renovation and construction of houses associated with access factors not only contributes to improving the quality of life but also creates a more civilized and humane social environment.
That is also the way the locality practically responds to the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" in the period of 2021 - 2025 that the whole country is joining hands to implement.
