Signing a contract to supply 5.1 million tons of coal for 2027
Vinh Tan 4 Refinery and Vinacomin Coal Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Coalimex) have just held a signing ceremony for the 2027 coal purchase and sale contract.
According to the contract content, in 2027, Coalimex commits to supplying a total volume of 5.1 million tons of coal to Vinh Tan 4 NMNĐ.
The signing of the contract is a specific result after the practical working program of senior leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (TKV) at Vinh Tan 4 NMNĐ on August 24, 2026.
In the context that Coalimex is a strategic partner and the only unit responsible for supplying the entire source of imported coal to Vinh Tan 4 NMNĐ in 2027, completing negotiations and signing the contract more than 4 months in advance is of great significance for ensuring fuel security.
Not only determining long-term supply volume and progress, the contract also unifies strict technical standards on coal quality to ensure boiler efficiency, optimize heat consumption and meet environmental protection standards.
At the same time, the mechanism of committing to maintaining safe coal inventory norms, combined with a 2-level early warning roadmap, is expected to contribute to proactively preventing the risk of supply disruption.
Synchronizing technical solutions, preparing for operation in 2027
Along with proactively securing input fuel sources, the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant are directing departments and workshops to comprehensively prepare technical and management conditions to optimize operation methods in 2027.
Early preparation for major repairs and overhaul: Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant has developed a technical plan, predicted the volume of materials and completed the main technical solution for the S2 generating unit overhaul in 2027 according to EVN's approval.
Preparing genuine replacement materials and expert services right from 2026 will contribute to shortening the overhaul progress, while ensuring the quality of reactor - turbine - generator system restoration.
Control and response to equipment aging: Faced with the reality that units have gone through nearly 10 years of continuous and frequent operation and have to flexibly change loads according to the mobilization of the National Power System and Electricity Market Operation Co., Ltd. (NSMO), Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant is promoting the review and inspection of high-pressure systems such as water pumps, steam tubes, APH air dryers, GGH heaters and SCR, FGD, ESP exhaust gas treatment systems.
Proactively manage financial resources and supply chains: Closely following EVN's direction, Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant is closely coordinating with professional departments of the Group to complete the 2027 production and business cost plan close to reality, thereby ensuring that work can be deployed promptly from the early days of the year.
