Petrovietnam organizes the 8th Oil and Gas Skills Competition

On September 23, in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) held the opening ceremony of the 8th Oil and Gas Skills Competition in 2024.

The Oil and Gas Skills Competition was first organized by Petrovietnam in 2009, every two years with the goal of developing highly skilled human resources, promoting vocational skills development for the workforce throughout the Group, especially the young workforce.

At the same time, strengthen cooperation between units inside and outside the Group; promote the movement of learning, scientific research, promote initiatives, improve techniques and rationalize production, and train skills among Oil and Gas workers.

The contest is also an opportunity for workers, staff, and experts in the industry to exchange, learn, and update new techniques and technologies from around the world to widely disseminate in the vocational training system and apply in production; honor workers with high knowledge and skills...

Through the Competition, young candidates with excellent skills are promptly discovered, selected and trained to participate in national, ASEAN and world skills competitions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Mr. Do Chi Thanh - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group - shared that after 7 times of organization, the Oil and Gas Skills Contest has become a festival of professional activities and vocational skills.

This is also an opportunity for workers to exchange, learn experiences, improve their professional qualifications and skills, and strive to have more and more good engineers and high-level technical workers in the oil and gas industry.

In addition, the Contest has also become a tradition of fire seekers, a beautiful corporate culture, a festival to honor the golden hands of the Oil and Gas workers.

Speaking at the contest, Mr. Le Tan Dung - Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs - affirmed that the Oil and Gas industry plays an important role in the socio-economic development of the country.

Therefore, training and developing professional skills for the industry's workforce is always an important, strategic, and long-term task.

This year's contest will take place from September 23 to 27, 2024 with the participation of 282 contestants from 15 member units under Petrovietnam, carefully selected from the grassroots level and nominated by the units.

Candidates will compete in 14 occupations including: Oil and gas exploitation operation, oil and gas drilling equipment operation, oil refinery operation, thermal power plant operation, industrial electronics, automation, electrical installation, refrigeration, turning, assembly, welding, graphic design, information technology software solutions and information technology network system administration.

The 8th Oil and Gas Skills Competition is expected to continue to be a lever, creating motivation to improve the sense of professional responsibility and professional capacity of each oil and gas worker, especially the young workforce.

In addition, it also arouses the emulation movement to promote initiatives, improve techniques, practice skills, and train skilled workers to build a team of highly qualified and skilled cadres, engineers, and technical workers to meet the needs of rapid, strong, and sustainable development of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group.
