On the evening of December 3, 2024, at the Opera House, the 10th National Foreign Information Awards Ceremony took place. The work Vietnamese Bookcase (for Vietnamese people abroad) by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Vietnam Education Publishing House (Ministry of Education and Training) won Second Prize - Category of valuable foreign information product initiatives.

Through the bookcase, generations of Vietnamese people living abroad can easily access national culture, strengthen their love for their homeland and country; promote cultural exchange activities, strengthen connections between Vietnamese people in the country and the NVNONN community. Building a bookcase with books in Vietnamese language, with content about nature, culture and people of Vietnam, ... will create a good environment for Vietnamese children in particular and Vietnamese people living abroad in general to practice and improve their mother tongue.

The donated Vietnamese Bookcases are a combination of many genres of books and documents to meet the diverse needs of overseas Vietnamese.

Since 2023, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs in collaboration with the Vietnam Education Publishing House has planned to build Vietnamese Bookcases for the Vietnamese community in many countries and territories and is on the way to realizing these bookcases. Vietnamese Bookcases have been present in many countries and spread across many areas where Vietnamese people live in the world. To date, the Vietnamese Bookcase has been introduced to overseas Vietnamese in the following locations: Fukuoka (Japan) (August 2023), Budapest - Hungary (October 2023); Taiwan (China) (July 2024); Paris (France), Prague and Brno (Czech Republic) (July 2024). Many other bookcases are in the process of being implemented.

Vietnamese bookcases have received attention from local governments, and have been supported to expand the scale and number of bookcases. Governments of many countries have also had policies to create favorable conditions for a friendly cultural and reading environment for the Vietnamese community, especially the young generation - which is also a bridge to promote the connection between Vietnam and countries around the world.

Preserving and spreading national culture, love for the mother tongue, and increasing the solidarity of Vietnamese people around the world is the message that the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnam Education Publishing House want to convey through the initiative of the Vietnamese Bookshelf for Overseas Vietnamese.
