Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB) announced its business results for the first 6 months of 2026 with pre-tax profit reaching more than 5,180 billion VND, an increase of 3% compared to the same period.

Capital mobilization has grown positively, asset quality has improved, and safety indicators are maintained at an optimal level

As of June 30, 2026, VIB's total assets reached more than 580 trillion VND, an increase of 4% compared to the beginning of the year. Deposit mobilization reached more than 317 trillion VND, an increase of 8%, creating a solid foundation for the bank to expand its business and meet customer credit needs. Notably, low-cost mobilized capital, including demand deposits (CASA) and foreign currency deposits, accounts for 19% of total customer deposits, contributing to supporting the maintenance of the net profit margin in the context of a still volatile market.

By the end of June 2026, the bank's outstanding credit balance reached more than 397 trillion VND, an increase of 4% compared to the beginning of the year. The credit portfolio continues to be developed in the direction of diversification, in which the retail segment and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) customers still play a key role, accounting for 67% of total outstanding loans.

In parallel with that, corporate customer outstanding loans increased by 22% and outstanding loans of financial institutions increased by 11%, reflecting a strategy of selective expansion to potential segments, while maintaining balance in the credit structure.

One of the highlights in the first half of the year is that asset quality continues to improve. The bad debt ratio (NPL) decreased to 2.10%, 6 basis points lower than the beginning of the year, showing the effectiveness of risk management, credit control and debt recovery.

Operating safety indicators are at an optimal level, in which the capital adequacy ratio (CAR) according to Basel II reaches nearly 12% (regulation: over 8%); loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR) is at 79% (regulation: under 85%); the ratio of short-term capital sources to medium and long-term loans is at 28% (regulation: under 30%); and the net stable capital source ratio according to Basel III (NSFR) reaches 103% (Basel III standard: over 100%). All four indicators are maintained within the safe threshold according to regulations.

On June 24, 2026, VIB was approved by the State Bank of Vietnam for a plan to increase charter capital to more than 37,300 billion VND, thereby further strengthening financial capacity and room to expand business operations in the coming period. Positive business efficiency, continuing to be recognized by reputable organizations

In the first 6 months of 2026, VIB's total operating income (TOI) reached more than 11,220 billion VND, an increase of 16% compared to the same period. At the same time, VIB proactively consolidated the reserve buffer, in line with the orientation of safe growth and prudent risk management.

Although the general level of interest rates continues to be competitive, the bank still maintains a net interest margin (NIM) at 3.1%, reflecting efficiency in capital cost management and optimizing profitable asset structure. On that basis, pre-tax profit reached more than 5,180 billion VND, an increase of 3% compared to the same period.

Revenue structure continues to be diversified, with non-interest income accounting for 22% of total operating income, thanks to positive contributions from credit cards, bancassurance and debt recovery that have handled risks. Good cost control helps the cost-to-income ratio (CIR) decrease to 34%. Credit cost is maintained at 1.2%, while the return on equity (ROE) reaches 16%.

VIB's financial capacity, governance quality and transparency continued to be recognized by reputable domestic and international organizations. During the period, Moody's raised VIB's credit rating outlook to "Stable"; IFC honored VIB as "Excellent Issuing Bank in East Asia and Pacific Region"; and at the same time, the bank continued to achieve the 2026 Information Disclosure Standard under the IR Awards Program. These recognitions contribute to consolidating VIB's reputation in the market, while strengthening the trust of customers, partners and investors.

Expanding the financial solution ecosystem towards personalization

In the field of credit cards, VIB continues to maintain its prominent position with nearly 1.2 million cards in circulation, while total spending through cards in the first 6 months of 2026 reached more than 2.6 billion USD.

Notably, Max Card recorded nearly 80,000 cards issued just nearly four months after its launch, initially showing the positive reception of the market for the membership card model. The product allows customers to proactively choose groups of benefits suitable for spending needs, thereby personalizing the experience and optimizing the value of incentives on the same card.

Continuing the model of selecting membership packages introduced through Max Card, VIB expands this approach from card spending to the entire personal financial journey with VIB Up. The solution is designed with three benefit packages including Plus, Pro and Elite, connecting needs for cash flow management, accumulation, loans, spending and priority banking services.

Through this, VIB gradually shifted from providing individual products to building financial solutions according to demand, contributing to increasing the level of multi-product use and depth of customer engagement.
