Gold prices fluctuated little in the context of the unpredictable US-China trade war.
Meanwhile, investors are now quite cautious after data showed that the impact of the trade war has caused damage to China.
China's gross domestic product increased by 6% in the third quarter of 2019. This is the slowest pace in 30 years. The news comes after China was trying to get more subsidies from the United States before it signed a phase 1 deal.
Meanwhile, a weakening USD is likely to stimulate gold prices. Hopefully a Brexit deal will help reduce the risk of recession in the EU.
British Prime Minister Vladimir Johnson had a deal with the EU on Thursday, with the key to it being an agreement on Northern Ireland applying a set of EU restrictions to certain goods, with the US only applying EU tariffs to goods passing through the EU market.
The deal must now be approved by the UK Parliament on Saturday. However, the Northern Ireland Democratic Alliance said it opposes the proposed deal, making it uncertain whether it will be approved.
