Vikki Bank increases interest rates immediately after changing its name
Dong A Commercial Joint Stock Bank (DongA Bank) officially changed its name to Vikki Digital Bank Limited (Vikki Bank) on February 14, 2025. After that, this bank adjusted its deposit interest rate for the first time since December 9, 2024.
Interest rate increase terms at Vikki Bank:
1-2 month term: Interest rate increased from 4.1%/year to 4.4%/year, adjusted to increase by 0.3%.
3-5 month term: Interest rate increased from 4.3%/year to 4.4%/year, increased by 0.1%.
6-8 month term: Interest rate increased from 5.55%/year to 5.6%/year, up 0.05%.
12-month term: Interest rate increased from 5.8%/year to 5.9%/year, adjusted to increase by 0.1%.
Meanwhile, long-term interest rates from 13 to 36 months have decreased:
13-month term: Reduced from 6%/year to 5.9%/year.
18-36 month term: Reduced from 6.1%/year
Vikki Bank still maintains a special interest rate of 5.9%/year to 7.5%/year for customers depositing for a 13-month term with an amount of VND200 billion or more.
VietBank sharply increases interest rates for terms under 1 year
Along with Vikki Bank, VietBank also adjusted deposit interest rates from today. This is the second interest rate increase by this bank since the beginning of the year.
Details of new interest rates at VietBank:
1-month term: Interest rate increased from 4.2%/year to 4.3%/year, adjusted to increase by 0.1%.
2-month term: Interest rate increased from 4.2%/year to 4.5%/year, increased by 0.3%.
3-4 month term: Interest rate increased from 4.4%/year to 4.6%/year, adjusted to increase by 0.2%.
5-month term: Interest rate increased from 4.5%/year to 4.6%/year, up 0.1%.
7-9 month term: Interest rate increased from 5.0%/year to 5.4%/year, adjusted to increase by 0.4%.
With this adjustment, VietBank currently has the highest savings interest rate under 6 months in the market, only behind Eximbank.

Upcoming interest rate trends
According to KB Vietnam Securities Company (KBSV), deposit interest rates may increase slightly by 30 - 100 basis points (0.3 - 1 percentage point) in 2025, depending on the banking group.
State-owned banks (Vietcombank, BIDV, VietinBank, Agribank): Forecast to increase by 30-50 basis points but still lower than private banks.
Joint Stock Commercial Banks: Can increase by 50-100 basis points, in which small banks will be under greater pressure.
Currently, interest rates are still high, depositors should consider terms from 12 - 24 months to enjoy the best interest rate.
