Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam was born in 1984 and is currently working at Vietnam Paper Corporation. Ms. Tam's family background is extremely difficult, her mother died early, her father is an old farmer and often sick. Ms. Tam herself has been infertile for 11 years without a child. The journey to find a child cost a lot of money, she and her husband broke up...
The female worker is currently a single mother raising two 4-year-old twins; the three of them live in a rented house. Because they were twins and their circumstances were difficult, Ms. Tam's children had low resistance and often had to be hospitalized for treatment. One of them had congenital duodenal obstruction and had to undergo surgery at 7 days old, so she is still hospitalized regularly. Every day, in addition to her job as a cleaning worker at the company, Ms. Tam sells porridge in the morning to earn extra income to raise her children.
At 4:00 a.m. on August 31, 2024, while Ms. Tam was cooking porridge, a gas explosion occurred, resulting in deep burns over 65% of her body. Ms. Tam is currently being treated at the Department of Emergency Resuscitation - National Burn Institute, all care is provided by relatives and colleagues taking turns to support, and her two young children have to be sent to relatives' homes.
Even more pitifully, because the rented house caught fire, the landlord did not continue to rent it to her. All of the medical expenses up to now have been paid for by relatives, neighbors, and employees of the Paper Corporation, and by the family's borrowing.
"Because of the serious illness (4th degree burns all over the body), the treatment time is long, the cost is very expensive, the family's circumstances are extremely difficult, the economy is exhausted. The family has 4 siblings, the economy is difficult, the sisters are single mothers so they cannot support anything. We hope that benefactors will help us to overcome this difficult and deadlocked period", Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien - Ms. Tam's sister shared.
According to Ms. Hien, Ms. Tam had to undergo many surgeries, necrosis removal, autologous and allogeneic skin grafts... Currently, the treatment cost is 7-8 million VND/day (excluding health insurance).
Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Hang - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Paper Corporation's Trade Union said that the entire cost of Ms. Tam's medical treatment up to now has been raised by relatives, neighbors, and employees of the Paper Corporation and borrowed by the family. We hope to receive your support so that Ms. Tam can overcome her adversity and return home soon to take care of her young child.
