Coming to Xeo Duoc 2 Hamlet, An Bien Commune to visit the family of twin sisters Vo Pham Bich Phuong and Vo Pham Bich Khue (born in 2016).
At 9 years old, they should have lived happily, innocently with their age, and were cared for by their parents. However, in 2019, their father died in a traffic accident, and since then they have lived with their elderly grandparents.
Ms. Tran Thi Tranh (born in 1963) their grandmother said that their family had no land for production, only a small house and garden. The children's mothers used to work far away but still occasionally come back to visit, but since the beginning of this year, they have cut off contact and address each other.
Ms. Tranh shared that she has a malicious heart and thyroid disease, but due to difficult circumstances, she still tries to make cakes to sell, making money to take care of her family. In the past few years, she has only taken medicine occasionally in moderation because of difficult economic conditions, unable to treat it to the point of being. Their grandfather, Vo Van Trang, (born in 1963), suffered from polynephritis, and despite being over 60 years old, still tries to work as a construction worker to earn money to take care of his family and two young grandchildren. Every few days, the pain returned, forcing him to find a doctor to temporarily reduce the pain.
Ms. Tranh sadly shared: "For the past few months, I have not dared to go to the doctor because I don't have money, I just buy medicine to take temporarily. The day before, heavy rain and wind broke the porch of the house, and I had to borrow more than 20 million VND to repair it. Seeing the two children and grandchildren is very difficult, but now I know how much I can strive... I just hope I have money so that the children can eat and study properly, not unfinished like in my lifetime".
The main breadwinner in the family is Mr. Vo Phu Loi - the son of Mrs. Tranh, the paternal uncle of the two. This year, at the age of 37, he stayed there to take care of his elderly parents and their grandchildren. In addition to wrapping cakes with his mother, he also drives a car to sell them everywhere. The work is unstable, the vegetables are congee, but he always hopes that the children will continue to go to school.
Since moving in with their grandparents, Bich Phuong and Bich Khue have been very well-behaved. Although only 9 years old, the two sisters soon learned that they were helping their grandmother and uncle wrap the cake and prepare things to sell. The summer vacation was supposed to be a time for fun like most friends, but the children stayed up late with the adults to prepare their goods. Preparing to enter the new school year, the learning corner only has a few old books given by acquaintances, old uniforms from last year are used as luggage for grade 3.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung - Party Cell Secretary, Head of Xeo Duoc 2 Hamlet said that Ms. Tranh's family is near-poor. Life has now become more difficult, even more difficult when having to raise and care for two children of school age. With the heart of "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", we earnestly call for the sharing of donors and philanthropists from near and far, to give hope to the two children who are orphaned and have no mother, and to the elderly and weak but full of love.
