At the age of freely going to school, Dinh Thi Kim Ngan - a 6D student at Cam Giang Secondary School (Cam Giang commune, Hai Phong city) - has to endure pain and inconvenience every day caused by severe scoliosis. Kim Ngan is a well-behaved, diligent student who always strives to overcome difficulties in her studies. According to the family, Kim Ngan was diagnosed with severe scoliosis, with curvature up to 7.2 degrees. Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Hai Nhu - homeroom teacher of class 6D - said that Kim Ngan is a student in particularly difficult circumstances. Her father works as a painter, whoever hires him does it, income is precarious, sometimes having work, sometimes not.
My mother cannot go to work because she has to stay home to take care of Kim Ngan's younger brother, who is only 6 years old this year but has hyperactivity, cannot speak and needs support in most activities.
Kim Ngan is very obedient and full of willpower. Although her health is not good, she still tries to go to school regularly, not wanting to take any breaks. The family is running around everywhere to cover the surgery costs for her. The surgery is scheduled for June 3rd, but so far the amount of money raised is still very small" - Ms. Nhu shared.
In the small house, the worry of food and clothing has already weighed heavily on the shoulders of the father who works as a hired laborer every day, now adding the burden of hospital fees for his daughter. Kim Ngan's mother is busy taking care of her young son who needs regular support, almost unable to earn extra income. All family expenses depend on the father's meager working days.
At the age of 12, instead of freely dreaming of student dreams, Kim Ngan is only hoping to have enough conditions to enter the operating room, so that in the future she can stand upright, confidently go to class, without the lingering pain or self-consciousness because of illness.
