10 cases where overtaking is not allowed from 2025

Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Clause 6, Article 14 of the 2024 Law on Road Traffic Safety and Order (effective from January 1, 2025) stipulates that overtaking is not allowed in the following cases:

a) When the conditions specified in Clause 3 of this Article are not ensured;

b) On a narrow bridge there is one lane;

c) Curves with limited visibility;

d) On two-way roads at the top of slopes with limited visibility;

d) At intersections, roads intersect at the same level as railways;

e) When weather or road conditions do not ensure safe overtaking;

g) When encountering a priority vehicle;

h) At the pedestrian crossing;

i) When there are pedestrians or wheelchairs of disabled people crossing the road;

k) In road tunnels.

Thus, from 2025, overtaking is not allowed in the above cases.
