5 standards for People's Council delegates from March 2025

The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Clause 3, Article 5 of the Law on Organization of Local Government 2025 (effective from March 1, 2025) stipulates that People's Council delegates must meet the following standards:

a) Loyalty to the Fatherland, People and Constitution, striving to carry out the renovation process, for the goal of a rich people, a strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization;

b) Only one nationality is Vietnamese nationality;

c) Have good moral qualities, be diligent, thrifty, honest, upright, impartial, and carefree, be exemplary in complying with the law; have courage and determination to fight against corruption, negativity, waste, all manifestations of bureaucracy, embezzlement, embezzlement of rights and other violations of the law;

d) Have cultural and professional qualifications, sufficient capacity, health, work experience and prestige to perform the duties of a delegate; have the conditions to participate in activities of the People's Council;

d) Residing or working at an agency, organization or enterprise in an administrative unit where he/she is a People's Council delegate;

e) Closely contact the people, listen to the opinions of the people, and be trusted by the people.

Thus, from March 2025, to become a People's Council delegate, it is necessary to meet the above standards.
