Reduced teaching hours for teachers who also work in the teaching profession

The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:

Article 11 of Circular 05/2025/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates the regime of reducing teaching hours for teachers who concurrently hold a number of other positions as follows:

For job positions that cannot have employees but must assign part-time teachers, the school is allowed to use teaching hours to do that job, specifically as follows:

1. Teachers concurrently hold teaching positions

a) The number of reductions in teaching staff assigned to concurrently work in the teaching profession is decided by the principal to ensure that it is consistent with the workload assigned to concurrently work. The total number of allowances for all teachers who concurrently work in the teaching profession must not be higher than the number of periods used for teaching work of the school as prescribed in Point b of this Clause;

b) The number of periods used for teaching work is 08 periods/week for general schools with 28 or more classes in regions 2 and 3, 19 or more classes in regions 1; it is 04 periods/week for the remaining general schools.

Thus, teachers who also work in the teaching profession are entitled to a reduction in the teaching period quota as above.
