Conditions for vehicles participating in road traffic

Office of Legal Consulting of Lao Dong Newspaper replied:

Article 35 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024 (effective from January 1, 2025) stipulates the conditions for vehicles participating in road traffic.

1. Motor vehicles and specialized motorbikes participating in road traffic must meet the following conditions:

a) Be granted a vehicle registration certificate and have a license plate attached in accordance with the provisions of law;

b) Ensure technical safety and environmental protection according to the provisions of law.

2. Automobiles used for transport business must be equipped with a journey monitoring device. Automobiles carrying 8 or more passengers (excluding the driver's seat), tractor-trailers, and ambulances must be equipped with a journey monitoring device and a device to record the driver's image.

3. Smart transport vehicles must ensure the conditions specified in Clause 1 of this Article and be licensed to operate by a competent authority.

4. Vehicles with foreign license plates operating in Vietnam shall comply with the provisions of Article 55 of this Law.

5. The Government shall detail Clauses 2 and 3 of this Article; and prescribe the operating conditions of primitive vehicles.

6. The provincial People's Committee regulates the scope of operation of rudimentary vehicles, four-wheeled motorized cargo vehicles, and four-wheeled motorized passenger vehicles in the locality.

Thus, according to the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024, the conditions for vehicles to participate in road traffic are stipulated as above.
