Clause 7, Article 13 of Decree No. 188/2025/ND-CP stipulates the time when a health insurance card is valid as follows:
Subjects specified in Point b, Clause 4, Article 12 of the Law on Health Insurance are students of general education institutions that pay annual health insurance as follows:
a) Grade 1 students: from October 1, the first year of primary school; from the last day of the school month, they must be 72 months old in the case specified in Point b, Clause 2 of this Article;
b) 12th grade students: from January 1 to September 30 of that year. Encourage grade 12 students to pay health insurance and receive health insurance support until December 31 of the final school year to continuously ensure health insurance benefits, without having to return the health insurance support fund of the state budget in case of changing subjects.
Clause 8, Article 13 of Decree No. 188/2025/ND-CP stipulates that the subjects specified in Point b, Clause 4, Article 12 of the Law on Health Insurance are students of universities and vocational training institutions who pay annual health insurance, including:
a) Students in the first year of the course: from the date of admission; in case the 12th grade student's card is still valid after the admission date, it will be paid from the date the health insurance card expires;
b) Students in the final year of the course: from January 1 to the last day of the month at the end of the course. Encourage students in the final year of the course to pay health insurance and receive health insurance support until December 31 of the final school year to continuously ensure health insurance benefits, without having to return the health insurance support fund of the state budget in case of changing subjects.
Thus, the time of use of the student's health insurance card is valid as above.
