The Lao Dong Newspaper Legal Consulting Office replied:
Article 44 of Decree 282/2025/ND-CP regulating administrative sanctions for violations in the fields of security, order, and social safety; prevention and control of social evils; prevention and control of domestic violence (effective from December 15, 2025) stipulates the following acts of economic violence:
1. Fine from 20 million VND to 30 million VND for one of the following acts:
a) Conquering common property of a family or private property of another family member;
b) Destroying common property of the family or private property of other family members but not to the extent of criminal prosecution;
c) Forcing a family member to work too much;
d) Forcing family members to contribute finances beyond their ability;
d) Controlling the assets and income of family members to create a state of material, spiritual or other dependence.
2. Remedial measures:
a) Forced restoration of the original state of the violation specified in Point b, Clause 1 of this Article, except in cases where the property cannot be restored to its original state;
b) Forced return of assets due to illegal possession or forced return of the amount in value of assets obtained from illegal possession that have been consumed, dispersed, or destroyed in violation of the provisions of law to the legal owner for the violation of the provisions of Points a, d and d, Clause 1 of this Article.
Thus, from December 15, 2025, a wife who forces her husband to work too much can be fined up to 30 million VND.
