In 2025, according to Circular No. 30 on the Regulations on junior high school and high school admissions, there are 3 admission methods for grade 10 High School: entrance exam, admission or a combination of entrance exam and admission. The selection of the admission method is under the authority of the locality.
Regarding the method of entrance exams for grade 10 high school, to ensure consistency and ensure the viewpoint of a light exam, not causing expense, the Circular stipulates the implementation of 3 subjects and exams, including: Math, Literature and 1 subject or the third exam chosen by the Department of Education and Training.
The third exam subject is selected from subjects assessed by scores in the general education program at the secondary level, ensuring that the same third exam subject is not chosen for more than 3 consecutive years.
Most provinces and cities choose the third exam subject in the 10th grade public high school exam for the 2025-2026 school year as Foreign Language (or English alone), only Ha Giang chooses History and Geography.
