According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the third exam subject is selected by the locality and must be announced no later than March 31st every year, in order to help students proactively review.

In Bac Ninh, candidates taking the exam for 10th grade of non-specialized high school (including public and private schools), 10th grade of ethnic minority boarding schools, continuing education high school level, academic year 2026 - 2027 will take place on May 26 and 27, 2026 with 3 subjects: Mathematics, Literature, English.
Previously, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to enroll 10th grade students in the 2026 - 2027 school year for high schools in the province.
According to the plan, the 10th grade entrance exam will be held in 2 days, June 27 and 28. Candidates take the exam on multiple-choice answer sheets; the exam paper is graded using computer software.

Vinh Long implements admission consideration for non-specialized public high schools, however, candidates registering to take the exam for specialized schools still have to take three subjects: Math, Literature and English.
