The entrance exam to 10th grade high school in Hanoi in 2026 is approaching, making the review atmosphere in many families more urgent than ever. According to the official schedule, the exam will take place on the 30th and 31st of May. Candidates taking the exam take exams in three subjects: Math, Literature and Foreign Language (mainly English).
Just a few weeks before the exam, many parents have entered the "last sprint" phase with their children, both accompanying and sharing pressure.
Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Chu Dinh Hai (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi) said that his family's schedule recently has mostly revolved around his children's studies.
Before, when I came home from work, I rested, but now it's different. Every night I sit with my child to review the lessons, especially Math and English. Some days when my child is tired, I also encourage my child to try a little harder" - Mr. Hai shared.
According to him, the pressure not only falls on the shoulders of students but also weighs heavily on parents. "My child is already stressed when taking the exam, I am even more stressed. I am worried that my child will not achieve his wishes, worried that his psychology will not be stable. Many days I also lose sleep thinking about the exam" - he said.
However, Mr. Hai said that he always tries to maintain a positive spirit for his child. "I remind my child to try their best, and whatever the result, the family will still support it. I don't want to put more pressure on my child to be too stressed" - he expressed.

Sharing the same feeling, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi) - a parent whose eldest daughter is entering the exam for the first time - admitted that she cannot help but worry when accompanying her child in this important stage.
This is the first time I have studied for the exam with my child, so I am really worried. I don't have much experience, so I feel pressure in everything, from my child's studies to how I support my child properly" - Ms. Thuy confided.
She said that the closer to the exam day, the more stressed her daughter becomes. "There are days when my child studies until late at night, and wakes up early in the morning to continue studying. Seeing my child like that, I feel very sorry for her. Many times I want my child to rest, but I'm afraid she won't be able to finish her knowledge in time," she said.
To support her child, Ms. Thuy said that she has given her child extra classes in all three subjects: Math, Literature and English. As for Math - which is a subject her child is still weak in - she gives her child tutoring classes 1-1 to promptly consolidate knowledge and closely follow the learning progress.
However, Ms. Thuy always reminds herself not to put too much emphasis on expectations. "I understand that if I put pressure, my child will be even more tired. Therefore, I choose to be by her side, encourage and support when needed. I always tell my child that just trying my best is enough" - she shared.
In addition to studying, she also pays attention to her child's health and spirit. "I try to prepare nutritious meals, remind my child to get enough sleep. I think stable health and psychology are as important as studying" - she said.
For Ms. Nguyen Bich Loan (Vinh Thanh commune, Hanoi), she said that instead of tutoring each specific lesson, she focuses on helping her child build a clear review plan, aiming for the aspiration to enter the high school that her child loves.
I and my child divide study time according to each subject, reviewing a part of the knowledge each day and spending time practicing exam questions. My child's aspiration is to enter a top school in this area, so making a clear plan helps both of us feel more secure" - Ms. Loan shared.
According to her, the most important thing at this time is to maintain a stable psychology for her child. "I see that the closer to the exam day, the more worried my child becomes, so I don't push her too much. Some days when her child studies slower, I also let her rest a little and then continue studying, as long as she is not too stressed," she said.
Ms. Loan also said that her family prioritizes balancing between studying and resting. "I always remind my children not to study in a rush, because if they are too tired, the effectiveness is not high. At this stage, maintaining strength and spirit is very important" - she shared.
