The sad fate of Vietnamese films at the box office at the end of the year
At present, there are 8 Vietnamese films released at the same time, but the box office picture shows gloomy colors. Except for a few works that have maintained their form, most Vietnamese films are struggling, with low revenue, and even facing the risk of heavy losses when they cannot attract audiences.
According to statistics from Box Office Vietnam, Vietnamese film revenue is showing signs of stagnation, giving way to foreign works.
In particular, the film "The Golden Department of Foreign Affairs" is considered a rare Vietnamese film to retain audiences at this time with a revenue of 81 billion VND. Although this figure has not reached 100 billion VND, compared to the general level, this is a project with a good ticket sales rate, helping manufacturers recover capital or make good profits. Because family film projects often do not cost too much filming costs compared to action and historical projects that require high special effects.

The second best ticket-selling project still in theaters is "The War in the Air" with a revenue of 251 billion VND. Although not a project to be released in the fourth quarter of 2025 like other films, this work still stays in theaters and is considered one of the rare films to hit theaters.
"Cai Ma" - the film that topped the rankings last week has now dropped to 7th place, the film has a total revenue of more than 18 billion VND. However, this project is showing signs of slowing down. Compared to the amount of money spent by the manufacturer, the figure of 18 billion VND cannot be recovered, and is even at a loss.
Most Vietnamese films are at a loss, making it difficult to recover capital
The remaining works mostly have modest revenue. "The Three Talents" despite its premiere still did not create an effect, only reaching 1.5 billion VND in the last three days of the weekend, currently the total film has reached 2.5 billion VND. "Mother's birthday Party" starring the couple of artists Ai Nhu - Thanh Hoi also only earned more than 5 billion VND after a long time of showing, of which last weekend only reached about 500 million VND.
Notably, "The Heart That Comes" - the film marking the return of Quach Ngoc Ngoan to theaters on November 7 but the revenue has not reached the 1 billion VND mark. This project is highly appreciated for its novel script and solid acting of the cast. However, this topic is not suitable for the taste of Vietnamese audiences, leading to difficult ticket sales.
Meanwhile, "Bim mat catching Nai" starring Bich Ngoc and Luong Gia Huy also only earned more than 600 million VND after 10 days of showing. The project is considered a disaster in terms of script and poor acting by the cast. This is one of the most criticized films of 2025 alongside "Co choi co chiu".
In general, the Vietnamese film market at the end of the year still has no outstanding works that are capable of creating a "fever" like "Red Rain".
Vietnamese film paintings at the end of the year have therefore not yet had bright spots, reflecting great challenges in content, approach to audiences and competitiveness in the context of the market being dominated by foreign films.
