Vietnamese films attract audiences thanks to their music touching the hearts

Not only stopping at the role of a supporting artist, Vietnamese film music has recently gradually become an important factor creating attraction for cinematic works.

Film music causes a stir

Many works have considered the music as a content element, contributing to conveying the director's emotions and messages to the audience. Typically, the song "Ngoai yeu con" performed by singer Ai Phuong - the soundtrack of the movie "Cuc vang cua ngoai" moved many audiences.

When the director himself is the one who wrote the music, the emotions of the film are conveyed more fully. Because no one clearly understands the psychology of the character, the story develops like the person who made it. The song is not only a "telling" through music but also a connection between the audience and the director's emotions.

In The Earth: The Sun in the Dark, two actors Meritorious Artist Cao Minh (as Uncle Sau) and Diem Hang Lamon (as Ut Kho) performed the song in the film, making the audience better understand the message of sacrifice and resilience of people on earth. In the film "House of Ancestors", the female lead Phuong My Chi composed and performed the song "House of Ancestors loves You", bringing a rustic, close feeling, filled with family love.

In particular, the film "Red Rain" with the theme song "Noi dau trong hoa" performed by Hoa Minzy. As a guest actress in the film, Hoa Minzy fully conveyed the pain of soldiers after the war, helping the audience feel moved when watching some scenes where this song resounded.

Recently, the film "Nha ma" has also attracted attention with the soundtrack of the film " Ma thuong con hoai" performed by Hoai Lam. Many audiences commented that the music made them cry and felt like they were listening to a story full of maternal love.

Not only emotional, the film's music also has great influence in the media. A good song, if performed well, can completely help the film spread strongly on social networks, contributing to promoting the work more effectively. Therefore, many producers today have considered music as an indispensable "weapon" when bringing films closer to the public.

Efforts to improve the quality of music in Vietnamese films

Along with the development of cinema, the life of Vietnamese film music is entering a more professional stage. Many production crews no longer consider film soundtracks as a sub-part but as the "second soul" of the work. Collaborating with famous musicians in the market shows efforts to improve the quality of music in Vietnamese films.

In 2024 - 2025, a series of film projects have invited prestigious names such as Hua Kim Tuyen and Nguyen Van Chung to compose film soundtracks. Each brings their own musical style, helping Vietnamese films have a more diverse identity from lyrical, contemporary folk to modern electronic music.

Notably, many singers have also returned to film soundtracks, contributing to improving the quality of the product. Tra My Idol contributed her voice to "The Billion Dollar Kiss", and Chu Thuy Quynh appeared in "The Dignity of Selling Brides".

Some recent action and war films have also been marked by music with a heroic spirit. The songs "Bong den" and "Hop" in the movie "Tuong tu ac troi" contributed to honoring the brave spirit of the soldiers, helping the audience feel the spirit and ideals depicted in each frame. In particular, after the film, many audiences also searched for the song "Bong den" on platforms, creating a strong effect for the project.

Filmmakers are also starting to pay more attention to copyright and soundtrack promotion strategies. Some crews release the song in parallel with the trailer or before the release date, helping to create an early spread effect. This is a common trend in international cinema, and is now being systematically welcomed by Vietnamese films.

From there, it can be seen that Vietnamese film music has proven its strong vitality. Music is no longer a lackluster background, but becomes a storyteller, contributing to shaping the emotions and identity of the film. When directors, actors, singers and musicians blend together, that is the time when Vietnamese cinema truly "sings" in the hearts of the audience with melody, emotions and even love for art.
