Deposits in residential areas increase rapidly, 2.4 times higher than those of economic organizations

Total payment methods reached nearly 19.48 million billion VND. Notably, residents' deposits increased by 9.68% compared to the end of 2024.

According to statistics from the State Bank, the total payment method as of the end of July 2025 reached 19.5 million billion VND. This figure increased by 8.75% compared to the end of 2024.

In this structure, the two main components have different growth rates. Deposits from economic institutions (ECIs) reached VND7.98 trillion, up 4.04% compared to the end of 2024. Meanwhile, people's deposits reached VND7.75 trillion, recording an increase of 9.68%.

Thus, the deposit growth rate of residential areas is about 2.4 times higher than that of economic organizations.

The chart shows that the total payment method, residential deposits and TCKT deposits have all been in an upward trend in the past 12 months (from August 2024 to July 2025).

Regarding the proportion of cash, data shows that the proportion of cash in circulation on the total payment method fluctuates. This rate increased to the highest level in January 2025 (nearly 11%) and then adjusted, remaining around 9.5% - 9.7% in the period from March 2025 to July 2025.

The report also noted that the total payment method data here does not include the issuance of securities issued by other domestic financial institutions.
