According to Korean media, girl group NewJeans announced their appearance on CBS's "Kim Hyun Jung's News Show" without prior consultation with their management company, ADOR.
On December 24, Korean time, ADOR released a statement stating that the artists' appearances on the show were decided and arranged by themselves without any discussion with the company. ADOR was not informed about this in advance.
Previously, in the closing segment of the show "Kim Hyun Jung's News Show", host Kim Hyun Jung teased the group's appearance, announcing that the Christmas special would feature five young girls - Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. Notably, the host called the members by their real names instead of the group name NewJeans, catching the audience's attention.
NewJeans is currently pursuing independent activities after announcing the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR on November 29. At the time, the group claimed that HYBE and ADOR were at fault, so there was no reason for the group to pay any fines from their management agency. In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the contract with the Seoul Central District Court.
In addition to their scheduled ADOR commitments, the group members have been working on independent projects. They recently created a new account called “jeanzforfree” to connect directly with fans.
The members also attracted attention when they appeared in a Vogue photoshoot directed by former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin. The photoshoot featured the members' real names instead of the group name NewJeans, which further increased the audience's interest.
