Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has officially announced on its website that Blackpink's single "JUMP" has been certified Gold.
According to RIAA standards, certifications are calculated based on total physical disc sales, paid downloads and streaming activity in the US market. In which, Gold certification is equivalent to 500,000 copies, Platinum is 1 million copies and Multiple Platinum is 2 million copies. Notably, "JUMP" has exceeded the milestone of 500,000 converted copies - equivalent to about 75 million streams.
This achievement was completely established thanks to online listens, without the need to release physical albums.
The fact that a K-pop girl group's song achieves RIAA certification only through streaming is considered a historical milestone, clearly reflecting the trend of digital music consumption as well as the Blackpink's persistent attraction in the US. This is also proof of the group's strong competitiveness in the international music environment, which is considered strict.
Not stopping there, "JUMP" also made its mark on global platforms and charts. The song once set a record on Spotify when it became the song of a K-pop girl group reaching 300 million streams fastest. On prestigious charts, "JUMP" stood firm for 10 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and 26 weeks on the Global 200, showing widespread spread and rare endurance.
The influence of the song is not limited to the US, "JUMP" has received Platinum certification in Canada and France, and Gold certification in Australia, Belgium, New Zealand and the Netherlands. These achievements continue to consolidate Blackpink's position as one of the leading globally influential girl groups today.
In the near future, Blackpink is expected to continue to attract the attention of fans when preparing to release their third mini album called Deadline on February 27. With the set records, the group is expected to continue to create new milestones on the international music map.
