With 13 nominations, "The Shape of Water" was listed as one of the films that received the most nominations in the history of this prestigious awards ceremony, behind only La La Land (2016), Titanic (1997), All About Eve (1950), in one nomination category.
"The Shape of Water" tells the story of the love story between the mute langur Elisa and the fisherman. Elisa is a deafWorker at the American Technology Research Center. Her life was boring because of the repetitive circulation of work. That is why she always contains inner thoughts that cannot be spoken. Until one day, Elisa meets the superstitious guy and feels sorry for him, sympathizing with a strange being.
Over time, feelings gradually arose between the two. The special thing is that there was no word between the two. All happen through the eyes and gestures, but between them, there is always a sense of attachment and harmony.
Through this special love story, "The Shape of Water" brings a message of love that comes from the heart, who in this world, even though they are not perfect, still has the right to be loved and happy.
Not only "capturing the hearts" of the audience with a humane script, "The Shape of Water" also conquers even the most demanding people with the acting of the main cast: Sally Hawkins (Elisa), Doug Jones, Zelda (Octavia Cooper), Giles (Richard Jenkins)... all of whom portray the characters in a complete and dedicated way.
Currently, "The Shape of Water" has won the "Excellent Production Design" award at the 90th Oscar.
