Series of activities at the central flower garden during the Hai Phong Red Flamboyant Flower Festival

On the evening of May 7, at the square of Hai Phong City Theater, the opening ceremony of a series of activities at the central flower garden and City Theater on the occasion of the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival - Hai Phong 2026 took place.

Attending the opening ceremony were Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Ngoc Chau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Do Manh Hien, Chairman of the City People's Committee Do Thanh Trung, Chairman of the City People's Council Le Van Hieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City Pham Van Lap; leaders of city party committees, People's Councils, People's Committees, leaders of departments and branches, and city residents.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Kien said: In 13 times of organizing the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival, Hai Phong has organized many response activities throughout the city. However, this is the first time that the central strip area and the City Theater square have been arranged into unique and diverse historical, cultural, culinary, and musical spaces; recreating an old Hai Phong rich in identity and cultural depth, a Hai Phong that is now vibrant, colorful, developing rapidly, greenly and sustainably; especially the converging quintessence of Hai Phong city and Hai Duong province after merging.

The central flower garden strip area and the City Theater in the minds of many generations of Hai Phong people have become a cultural living space that is both unique and familiar; it is one of the places marking the breakthrough development of the city in recent years.

The selection of this space to organize a series of street cultural and artistic activities aims to honor heritage values; with the desire to create a place to explore and experience interesting experiences for everyone in the coming time every weekend. At the same time, meeting the increasingly high demand for cultural values of the majority of people; contributing practically to the implementation of Resolution No. 80 of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture and the Resolution of the City Party Committee Executive Committee with the goal of building Hai Phong into a Music City associated with building socialism and socialist people.

The series of activities in the central strip area is designed as a diverse experience journey, bringing a vivid picture of Hai Phong, where traditional values blend with modern integration spirit. At the "Old and New" Culinary Space, people and tourists not only experience 18 booths with dishes that have made the culinary culture brand of Hai Phong, but also enjoy a variety of cultural styles from famous countries on the world culinary map, and have been and are major investment partners of Hai Phong such as Korea, China, Japan...

In particular, street art programs are designed to interweave folk and traditional spaces with Xam singing, Ca Tru singing, Cheo singing and modern and vibrant spaces such as hip hop, zumba, DJ... including special programs of international art troupes. In addition, art performance activities for the young sprouts of Hai Phong are also designed to be diverse and rich throughout the week of the series of activities.

According to Vice Chairman Le Trung Kien, in the second quarter of 2026, the city will approve and organize the implementation of 4 important projects to promote the development of culture, sports and tourism; including the Project to build Hai Phong into a Music City. City leaders believe that the series of activities in the central strip area and the City Theater will be a successful start, creating motivation for localities throughout the city to effectively develop night economy models, creating more attractive cultural and tourism products for people and tourists.
