People's Artist Cong Ly was born in 1973 in Hanoi. His family has no one in the arts, but Cong Ly really likes to watch movies and is passionate about acting.
After finishing high school, he registered for the exam and passed the entrance exam to Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema. NSND Cong Ly's career is shown through many roles in plays at the Hanoi Drama Theater.
In the field of television, NSND Cong Ly made his mark with prime time films such as: "When a widowed man bursts into tears", "Wind of Kinh village", "Storm across the village", "Afternoon passing by the old street", "Girls in the city", "Birch song", "Rose on the left chest", "Scent of affection"...
In particular, in the "Tao Quan" program, the role of Bac Dau by NSND Cong Ly made a deep impression on the audience.
After many years of dedication to art, Cong Ly was awarded the title of People's Artist in 2019 and was appointed Deputy Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater in 2020.
In March 2025, he resigned from the position of Deputy Director of the Hanoi Drama Theater after the end of his term, but still worked at the theater.
After 2 failed marriages, in early 2021, NSND Cong Ly married Ngoc Ha - 15 years younger than him.
In July 2021, NSND Cong Ly suddenly suffered a stroke. He was taken by his family to the University Medical Hospital for emergency treatment. After that, he was transferred to Central Military Hospital 108 for functional rehabilitation.
Sharing with Lao Dong reporters, to improve her husband's health, Ngoc Ha took her husband abroad for a doctor's examination.
From October 2022 to now, Ngoc Ha has accompanied her husband on 10 flights to Japan for treatment. She believes that this is an important decision related to her husband's health.
Ngoc Ha shared that when her husband is sick, she receives a lot of support from relatives. If she goes on business trips or is busy, her biological mother also cooks food to send to her daughter and son-in-law.
Currently, People's Artist Cong Ly has gradually recovered, he has gained weight, can walk lightly, and lives at home. Occasionally, he also goes down to the apartment yard to stroll without needing support.
After getting better, he participated in some films such as: "Under the Shadow of the Happy Tree", "Ex-husband, ex-wife, ex-lover", "Heart rescue station", "My Father, the One Left Behind"...
When filming, he is picked up by colleagues by the crew's car or "Co Dau" takes a taxi to the set herself.
Ngoc Ha shared that every time the Hanoi Drama Theater has a new play, Cong Ly comes to read the script with colleagues and watch the staging of the new work.
Previously, my husband was a cheerful and easygoing person, but when he got sick, he became more demanding, sitting alone often felt self-pitying, cried and irritable. I understand his psychology, so I often confide in him and encourage him to overcome difficulties...", Ngoc Ha said.
Cong Ly's wife is very attentive to her husband's meals, the menu is changed by her every day.
The most important thing is that he feels more comfortable and healthier. I am happy that even when he is sick, he still pays attention to his wife's feelings. When I go to work, he still texts to ask about and encourage me. When his wife comes home late, he still waits...", Ngoc Ha said.
