Director Ricardo Preve will film the documentary "The price we have to pay" in Vietnam, about the journey of war reporter Ignacio Ezcurra.

The documentary tells the story of Ignacio Ezcurra - an Argentine battlefield reporter who went missing in Saigon in May 1968, when he was only 28 years old.

Although Ezcurra's body has not been found, the images, articles and memories he left behind are still living witnesses to the battle.

The film recreates Ezcurra's journey - from his childhood in Argentina, his working process in the Middle East, the US, to his mission in Vietnam as a reporter for La Nacion newspaper.

The film crew clarified the hypotheses about the disappearance and the impact of this event on his family, friends and colleagues.

I want to tell a story beyond Ignacio personally - to talk about war, Vietnamese people and profound human values, director Ricardo Preve shared at a press conference on June 23 in Hanoi.

Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam Marcos A. Bednarski said that this is the first co-production project between the Argentine film crew and the producer in Vietnam. He hopes this is the beginning of a journey of cooperation in the film industry between the two countries.

This is only the first stage, when the film is completed, we will not only let the film be released in Vietnam but also let many audiences around the world know it, said Mr. Bednarski.

The first part of the documentary has been completed in Argentina. The filming in Vietnam will be done at the end of June 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta - places where young battlefield reporter Ezcurra once set foot.

The film is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026 and participate in international film festivals.

Previously, in 2019, a photo exhibition about Ignacio Ezcurra was held in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of Argentina's National Day, in memory of the brave reporter and to deepen the Vietnam - Argentina relationship.

Ricardo Preve, born in 1957, studied in Argentina, Italy and the US. After nearly 20 years as a manager in the natural resources sector, he switched to filmmaking in 2001. He currently runs two film production companies Ricardo Preve Films LLC (USA) and this del Cine SRL (Argentina).
