According to documents, after the victory over Dien Bien Phu (May 7, 1954), at the negotiation table and signing of the Geneva Agreement (July 21, 1954), the French colonialists were forced to accept a ceasefire to restore peace in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. At this time, our country is temporarily divided into 2 regions, taking latitude 17 as a boundary, the two sides agreed for 300 days (from July 22, 1954 to May 17, 1955) to transfer troops to gather the North and South.
In Binh Dinh, there are 300 days to gather the troops of Inter-zone 5 to the North. Since 1954, the Party Committee and people of Binh Dinh have carefully completed all logistics work, prepared and successfully transferred more than 10,700 cadres, soldiers, forces to the North, and people returning home, on ships leaving Quy Nhon port.
