On December 16, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court postponed the first-instance trial of a property inheritance dispute, requesting the cancellation of a separate decision and the demand for a house to stay between the plaintiff, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Nhung (61 years old), the younger sister of the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh, and the defendant, Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan (37 years old), the daughter of the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh.
Those with related rights and obligations include: Ms. Le Thi Hong Phuong, Mr. Vo Thanh Nhieu - younger brother of the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh, Huynh Thi Ngoc Yen Notary Office (Ward 14, Binh Thanh District), Phu Nhuan District People's Committee and a number of other individuals.
Regarding the reason for the postponement, the plaintiff, Ms. Hong Nhung - the younger sister of artist Vu Linh - has submitted a request for postponement.
Before deciding to bring the case to trial, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court held meetings for the parties to review the submission, access, disclosure of evidence and mediation.
During the process of resolving the case, the court requested an appraisal of the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh's signature at the plaintiff's request. The appraisal conclusion showed that there was insufficient basis to conclude whether the signature on the adoption handover document and the adoption handover certificate issuance book compared to Meritorious Artist Vu Linh's signature on the sample documents were the same person.
The parties also accessed documents and evidence related to the dispute, expressed their opinions and did not agree to mediation.
After artist Vu Linh passed away, in early June 2023, Ms. Hong Nhung - singer Hong Nhung, Vu Linh's younger sister - sued Hong Loan - adopted daughter - over an inheritance dispute.
The Plaintiff requests the court to consider canceling some documents related to the personal identity of Ms. Vo Thi Hong Loan; requesting to cancel the inheritance declaration document made by Ms. Hong Loan on April 7, 2023, at Huynh Thi Ngoc Yen Notary Office for the inheritance of Mr. Vo Van Ngoan - artist Vu Linh.
On the defendant's side, Hong Loan did not accept all of the plaintiff's lawsuit requests. The defendant affirmed that she was the sole heir of artist Vu Linh and that the defendant had submitted to the court all the documents verifying that Ms. Loan was the legitimate child of artist Vu Linh.
