We are all trying here" tells the story of Hwang Dong Man (Koo Kyo Hwan) - who among his successful friends believes that he is the only one whose life is not as desired.
Tormented by suffering, jealousy and envy, he begins a journey to seek peace. This journey is accompanied by film producer Byun Eun Ah (Go Yoon Jung) - who always tries to be strong to hide the inner wounds.
Speaking about the project, Go Yoon Jung feels sympathetic to many aspects because the story is set in the industry in which she is working. She assesses that the film has humorous elements, but not simply light but with a dark, bitter tone - like a form of "black comedy". This is also something she finds impressive.
The character Eun Ah she plays is built with a strong, rational outer shell, but inside contains many insecurities. According to Go Yoon Jung, this is a person who always sets strict standards for herself and constantly questiones her own value. "When stress is extreme, instead of crying, Eun Ah bleeds from her nose. She does not release emotions outside but suppresses them, creating a silent but profound inner struggle.
To clearly show this psychological depth, Go Yoon Jung focuses on the smallest details in acting: from the eyes, rhythm of the dialogue to the intonation at the end of the sentence. "This is a character with many gaps, and I try to fill those gaps with emotional depth" - she said.
In "We are all trying here", Go Yoon Jung and Koo Kyo Hwan attracted attention when collaborating together. Speaking of her co-star, the actress felt like she was seeing Hwang Dong Man in real life. "Kyo Hwan has bright energy, but at the same time he also contains a constant inner struggle. That made me learn a lot.
According to Go Yoon Jung, the story of Dong Man and Eun Ah is the highlight of the film. They are "normal" people, instinctively recognizing each other's value and silently becoming spiritual support for each other. She believes that the words of encouragement that Eun Ah gives to Dong Man are actually something she wants to say to herself and comfort herself.
Through Eun Ah's journey, I hope viewers can understand that the feeling of "worthlessness" is not something that needs to be eliminated, but is part of a journey of understanding and accepting oneself. I hope that everyone will be somewhat liberated when they realize and accept themselves.
The movie "We are all trying here" will air on April 18.
