Vietnamese audiences spend millions on concert nights
The explosion of music nights is leading to increasing spending by audiences.
Tinh Ha say hi concert: Hẹn giữa tinh hà taking place on October 17 is announced by the organizers to sell out tickets after 45 minutes of opening for sale. Ticket prices for the program range from 800,000 VND to 50 million VND. In which, CAT classes are priced at 1.2-2 million VND, Fanzone 2.5 million VND, VIP 4 million VND and SVIP 5 million VND. President Lounge class has the highest price - 50 million VND.
Notably, the 5 million VND SVIP area is an early-sold ticket category. This shows that a part of the audience is willing to spend a few million VND to have a good location and more benefits at the concert.
Also in October, "Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai" organized two consecutive nights of performances in Ho Chi Minh City. The program has 19 ticket classes, from 1 million VND to 10 million VND.
Compared to the first season of 2024, when tickets cost about 800,000-8 million VND, the highest price of the program has increased by 2 million VND.
Going to concerts doesn't just cost tickets
The new ticket price is only a part of the money fans spend on a performance night.
For audiences living in the concert venue, a ticket worth 2-3 million VND is already a significant expense. For people from other provinces and cities, the actual amount also includes air tickets or bus tickets, hotels, food and transportation.
In addition, many people are also willing to spend money on merchandise (products for fans) such as shirts, photocards, lightsticks...
In particular, a part of fans do not only attend one night. They can buy tickets for many nights of the same program or move to another city to continue watching their favorite artists.
Therefore, a ticket priced at 2-3 million VND can lead to a much higher total cost.
The fact that audiences are willing to spend money also contributes to explaining why organizers are increasingly dividing ticket classes.
Instead of just selling entrance tickets, premium classes are supplemented with locations near the stage, private areas, gifts, food, drinks or some special benefits.
The gap between the lowest and highest tickets is therefore increasing. With Tinh Ha Say Hi, the difference is more than 60 times, from 800,000 VND to 50 million VND.

The audience will have to choose
The fact that many concerts sell tickets quickly shows that the demand for live entertainment in Vietnam is increasing.
However, a program that sells out tickets does not mean that audiences can continuously spend several million VND for every concert.
In the last months of the year alone, the market has had many big programs. Besides concerts of Vietnamese artists, there are also international artists coming to Vietnam to perform. A part of young audiences are also willing to go to Thailand, Singapore and countries in the region to see their idols.
As the number of programs increases, concerts will compete for the audience's entertainment time and budget.
A person may be willing to spend 3 million VND for a favorite performance night, but when there are 3-4 programs at the same time, they are forced to choose. This is also the next problem of the Vietnamese concert market.
Ticket prices of 5 million, 10 million or 50 million VND may attract attention, but the majority of audiences are still in popular and mid-range ticket classes. To maintain stages with tens of thousands of people, organizers cannot only rely on groups of audiences with high spending capacity.
After a period of continuous large-scale concerts and "ticket outage" information, the market will have to answer a more realistic question: how much money can Vietnamese audiences spend each year on live performances.
As concerts become increasingly a familiar entertainment choice, ticket prices, program quality and feedback experience will be factors that make audiences decide which night they will spend money on.
