From a few thousand to tens of thousands of spectators
On September 18, Tung Duong announced the live concert "Flying towards the Sun", scheduled to take place at My Dinh Stadium at the end of the year. This is the 15th live concert and the largest scale in the male singer's 25 years of singing.
According to the crew, the program targets about 40,000-50,000 viewers, including about 30 performances with nearly 40 works. Tung Duong also directly participates as co-director.
The number of 50,000 spectators is very noteworthy, because most of Vietnamese artists' personal liveshows in the past often chose theaters, performance venues or spaces with a few thousand seats. Liveshows held in stadiums will push the problem to another level: tens of thousands of tickets must be sold, while sound, lighting, screens and staging must be changed to serve a large audience.
Tung Duong is not the only case showing this shift.

At the end of 2025, My Tam will hold a live concert "See the light" at My Dinh Stadium with about 40,000 spectators. Previously, the female singer also brought "Tri am" to this stadium.
In another model, Ha Anh Tuan organized two "Sketch a rose" nights at The Global City, Ho Chi Minh City, with a total announced audience of nearly 30,000 people. The series of programs was then also taken to many locations outside Vietnam.
Soobin also quickly expanded his personal performance scale after the "Anh trai vượt ngàn chông gai" effect. Three "All-Rounder" nights in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 2025 attracted more than 15,000 spectators each night.
Not only personal concerts, the concert model emerging from gameshows shows significant purchasing power. Eight nights of "Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai" attracted a total of about 200,000 spectators. The first night in Ho Chi Minh City had about 20,000 viewers and many subsequent ticket sales continued to record high demand.
These figures show that the Vietnamese performing arts market has seen a group of audiences willing to spend money on live experiences, instead of just listening to music through digital platforms.
Concerts are therefore no longer necessarily a milestone made by artists after 20-30 years of singing. Some younger artists are also starting to see private performances as an important step in building their careers.

The stadium is bigger but the risks are also greater
However, the continuous appearance of tens of thousands of concerts does not mean that the Vietnamese market is strong enough to maintain a stadium race with all artists.
My Tam has more than two decades of audience accumulation and a song portfolio long enough for many hours of concerts. Ha Anh Tuan built the concert brand for many years. Soobin gained more momentum from gameshows and the number of fans increased sharply. The "Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai" concerts also have the advantage of dozens of artists and the fan community of a television program.
Each case therefore has a different platform to sell tens of thousands of tickets.
Tung Duong also admitted that bringing his personal concert to the stadium for the first time created new pressure. The space of 40,000-50,000 people itself forced the crew to solve many problems simultaneously from the stage, sound, images to the weather.
More importantly, it is the purchasing power problem. A market that can sell out tickets for a few big concerts may not be able to continuously absorb programs with 30,000-50,000 people. Audiences also have to choose between more and more concerts, festivals, fan meetings and international programs, while the cost of a music tour is not limited to ticket prices but also includes travel, accommodation and accompanying expenses.
Large scale also means higher breakeven points. Artists need a large enough audience, a sponsoring system, production capacity and a song portfolio capable of holding tens of thousands of people for many hours. A stadium with a large audience is therefore not only a measure of popularity, but also reflects the ability to turn social media likes into actual purchasing power.
If concerts with tens of thousands of people can continue to sell tickets through many seasons, with many groups of artists and not completely depend on a temporary fever, then stadiums will truly become a stable part of the Vietnamese performance market instead of just individual milestones.
