This is not only an opportunity to pray for peace but also a vivid practical lesson for my children to understand and be more proud of the glorious historical tradition of their homeland".

On this occasion, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee awarded the decision recognizing Thanh Ban Phu Historical and Cultural Relic Tourist Site to Thanh An commune.
According to the leader of Thanh An commune, General Hoang Cong Chat's real name was Hoang Cong Thu, from the old Thai Binh region (now Hung Yen).
In 1739, the uprising led by him broke out in the Son Nam region (Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hung Yen). In 1748, the insurgents returned to the upland Thanh Hoa region, following the mountain road to Hung Hoa (Northwest).

In May 1754, Hoang Cong Chat, along with General Ngai and General Khanh, two Thai ethnic leaders in Dien Bien, led the people of the ethnic groups to drive out the Fe invaders and liberate Muong Thanh (Dien Bien).
To have a long-term operating base, General Hoang Cong Chat and the people of all ethnic groups built Ban Phu Citadel in 4 years from 1758 to 1762.

Throughout 30 years (1739 - 1769) maintaining the fire of uprising, Hoang Cong Chat gathered the people of all ethnic groups in Hung Hoa region into a unified bloc, fighting together to defend the country and protect the mountains and forests in the border area of the Fatherland.
Today, the people of the Dien Bien and Northwest ethnic groups will forever remember the merits and great sacrifices of General Hoang Cong Chat and two generals Lo Ngai, Lo Khanh of more than 270 years ago.
