Dien Bien to invest 570 billion VND to expand wastewater treatment system

Dien Bien - The project funded by Finland is expected to solve environmental problems for about 35,000 households.

Recently, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the working delegation of the Finnish Embassy in Vietnam led by Mr. Pekka Voutilainen - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Vietnam as Head of the delegation.

At the working session, the two sides exchanged contents to ensure conditions for cooperation in preparing to organize the implementation of the project to expand the wastewater collection and treatment network phase 2, Dien Bien Phu city (now belonging to Dien Bien Phu and Muong Thanh wards) funded by the Finnish Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Accordingly, the project has a total investment of about 570 billion VND (the capital structure includes ODA capital from Finland accounting for 84%; domestic counterpart capital accounting for 16%).

The project has a main scale of increasing treatment capacity to 20,000m3/day and night; completing a collection network of about 60 km; supplementing smart operating and management equipment.

After completion, the project is expected to directly serve about 35,000 households. The project implementation time is expected to be in the period 2026 - 2030.

Mr. Lo Van Cuong said that in the coming time, the province will actively coordinate with central ministries and sectors and Finland to build and complete the project proposal.
