Looking back at the journey at the "Miss Universe" contest, how does Ky Duyen feel now?
- My current feelings are both happy and proud. Happy because I have fulfilled my dream of representing Vietnam in an international competition 10 years after being crowned Miss Vietnam. Proud to be in the Top 30 of "Miss Universe 2024" with the participation of representatives from nearly 130 countries and territories.
With the achievement of Top 30 in the beauty pageant "Miss Universe", does Ky Duyen feel regretful or satisfied?
- I myself still have some regrets because I hoped to be able to enter the deepest Top so that the two words Vietnam would be heard the most, showing my strength in the final round which is the evening gown performance. However, with the achievement, I am really extremely happy.
What does the "Miss Universe 2024" contest mean in Ky Duyen's 10-year journey?
- For me, the "Miss Universe 2024" contest is the result of a 10-year journey of perseverance, nurturing passion, daring to do, daring to act, daring to change. Taking this question as an example, I would also like to send a message to young people, follow your dreams, believe in yourself.
Proud to promote the image and people of Vietnam
In beauty pageants, promoting Vietnamese culture and Vietnamese people is very important. How will Ky Duyen do this in the "Miss Universe 2024" contest?
- Right from the moment I arrived in Mexico, everyone could see that I chose an ao dai outfit by designer Le Thanh Hoa with a mix of colors and a bit of design lines typical of the host country, Mexico.
During the competition, I used the image of the ao dai in a more modern and individual way, but still retained the charm of the Vietnamese ao dai. In particular, in the national costume competition, I wore a costume designed by Dang Tran Tri in collaboration with the team to promote the beauty of the butterfly parasol of the Nguyen Dynasty, the beauty of the traditional Nhat Binh ao dai, mixed with a modern and developing style.
The "Miss Universe 2024" contest is a good opportunity for Ky Duyen to promote the country's image to the world. What do you think about this opinion so far?
- That is the biggest motivation in realizing my dream of representing Vietnam in an international beauty pageant for the past 10 years. There, people will not call me Ky Duyen but Vietnam, when wearing the Vietnamese sash. That is like a motivation for me to try harder, to make more efforts in the journey of promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to friends around the world.
What is Ky Duyen's plan for 2025? Will she continue her mission as a beauty queen in spreading positive messages and love for her homeland and country's culture?
- I will definitely have many plans and I will carry out the missions of a reigning "Miss Universe Vietnam 2024". I hope to be an inspiration to young people and carry out volunteer activities to arouse pride and love for the homeland.
I will continue to build 10 schools for children in the highlands. Currently, I have finished calling for 6 schools, 4 more schools left. I also have the project "Bookshelf for children", "12 Edutours" at 12 universities...
Tet At Ty is an occasion for everyone to gather with family, does Ky Duyen have plans to welcome the new year with relatives or any other plans?
- As planned, this year I will go to the North to celebrate Tet with my family a little early and then return to Ho Chi Minh City immediately to do some other important work.
What does the new year 2025 mean to Ky Duyen after the recent journey?
- 2025 will continue to be a year in which I will operate at full capacity with many plans outlined after 2024. I will try my hand in new fields to explore my energy more. I really hope to receive love and respond to all the affection from the audience that has been given to me over the past time.
