Accordingly, when the presiding judge of the appellate trial of the heritage dispute case of the late artist Vu Linh announced the postponement due to the absence of a representative of the Cau Kieu Ward People's Committee (formerly Phu Nhuan district), Hong Phuong's family's representative lawyer Le Hang asked for her opinion in court. According to her, Hong Loan has now filed a notice of the loss of the adoptive consent of the late artist Vu Linh. However, this is important evidence that needs to be clearly examined to clarify Hong Loan's status as the adopted daughter of the late artist Vu Linh.
After that, the court said it would record this opinion for the next trial.
On Hong Loan's side, in a petition sent to the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City, she stated that she had lost all documents, including documents related to the first-instance case to date. In particular, she also reported the loss of artist Vu Linh's adoption paper.
In addition, Hong Loan also stated that she asked the court for 15 days to search. However, until the appellate trial on April 22, she had not yet found an adoption certificate of artist Vu Linh.

After the trial, Hong Phuong's family expressed outrage because at the first-instance trial, Hong Loan provided an adoption certificate of the late artist Vu Linh, but now reported it lost, causing many difficulties for her family's lawsuit.
Hong Phuong expressed disappointment because she believes that the family wants to examine all documents, including whether Hong Loan's recognition as Vu Linh's adopted daughter is legal or not. However, Hong Loan's report of the loss of this important document may prolong the lawsuit, affecting her and her family's spirit.
Artist Hong Nhung also said that the lawsuit has lasted for 3 years, causing mental fatigue for her and her family. "My brother, artist Vu Linh, has not had a day of peace for the past 3 years because the lawsuit has lasted. My family and I want to clarify everything, including whether Hong Loan is my brother's legal adopted daughter".
Lawyer Le Hang said that the client's family wants Ms. Hong Loan to provide an adoption certificate of artist Vu Linh because according to the lawyer, this is important evidence to assess whether Hong Loan is the legal adopted daughter of the late artist Vu Linh or not? That is also what the client's family wants more than receiving how much inheritance left by the late artist.
On Hong Loan's side, in addition to the report of lost documents, after the court session was adjourned, she and her relatives quickly left the court session, without answering reporters' interviews.
At the first-instance trial in early 2025, the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City determined that Hong Loan was the legal adopted daughter of Meritorious Artist Vu Linh, belonging to the first line of inheritance. Accordingly, Hong Loan enjoyed 85% of the inheritance. However, the court also decided to divide 15% of the assets to Ms. Hong Nhung due to her contributions to taking care of the family and artist Vu Linh for a long time.
After this verdict, both sides appealed, bringing the case to the appellate level.
In the appeal, Ms. Hong Loan requested not to accept the division of inheritance for Ms. Nhung, and at the same time said that applying case law is not appropriate. On the contrary, Ms. Hong Nhung requested the cancellation of documents related to the adoption and re-determination of inheritance.
