Wife of a 21st Century Prince is set in a fictional country of the monarchy. The film tells the love story between Sung Hee Joo - an heiress in a poor family with a commoner status, and Lee Ahn - a prince who has nothing but the identity of a king's son.
This project has attracted attention since the end of last year with news about the cast. According to Kakao Entertainment, IU will play Sung Hee Joo and Byeon Woo Seok will play Lee Ahn.
At the end of March, there were rumors that IU and Byeon Woo Seok had withdrawn from the project. However, the management companies of both actors denied it.

Wife of a 21st Century Prince is the debut work of screenwriter Yoo Ah In, who won the award for Outstanding Feature Film at the 2022 MBC Drama Score Competition. The director in charge is Park Joon Hwa, who directed a series of hit films What's So in Secretary Kim?, The First Life, and Hoan Hon of tvN.
The film will officially start filming at the end of April and is scheduled to air in the second half of this year on MBC. However, the streaming platform released a song in parallel, but the work has not yet been decided.
