Climax" (Vietnamese title: Extreme) tells the story of Bang Tae Seob (Joo Ji Hoon) - an ambitious prosecutor, willing to embark on a criminal gang to reach the peak of power.
The marriage between him and former top actress - Chu Sang Ah (Ha Ji Won) is actually just a perfect play, covering up hidden calculations, betrayal and plots to destroy each other.
Aired on the evening of March 16, the work recorded a viewership rating of 2.9% - lower than its competitor in the same frame, "The Kiss of the Siren" (played by Park Min Young). However, "Climax" still received many positive feedbacks.
Climax" has a fast pace, dramatic and attractive storytelling style. In episode 1, the origin and ambition of the story center - Tae Seob are revealed.
Along with that, the appearance of Hwang Jung Won (Nana) - the person who provides information for the male lead, Lee Yang Mi (Cha Joo Young) - the "boss" behind the power agreements linking politics and the entertainment industry is also an attractive factor.
At the end of episode 1, the film explodes with a scene where Tae Seob whistles after collecting evidence to overthrow Yang Mi but accidentally discovers the secret of a politician. This scene is exactly as shared earlier by director Lee Ji Won - "wanting to create a story where each episode becomes a climax".
On screen, Joo Ji Hoon shines once again. The male actor is praised for clearly showing the ambition of the character but is still full of attraction and cunning, treacherous. Meanwhile, Ha Ji Won also has an impressive reappearance in the image of a former actress trying to return to the entertainment industry after being involved in tax evasion scandals.
Korean media assessed that although the opening score is not too high, with the combination of a thrilling plot and a talented cast, "Climax" still has a chance to go against the tide in the upcoming broadcast. The film is 10 episodes long, and is expected to end on April 14.
