"Walking in the Bright Sky" officially ended in episode 58. In the final episode, many events happened, most notably the scene where Pu and Chai returned to their hometown.
Ghen went to inform the villagers that Pu and Chai were coming back to the village. Mr. Chieu was busy looking at a homestay model in the neighboring village. Chai was anxiously urging his father to come back quickly because he had brought his daughter-in-law back to him.
Standing in the middle of the vast mountains and hills, Chai silently thought back to his story. A boy born and raised in the village, if there was only one way out of the village, Chai would have only one love for his girl. But he was once rejected by Pu because he could not do anything for his family, not to mention the villagers. After that, Chai left his family and the village to follow his love - that was Pu.
The final episode also features Pu's confession: "There is only one road out of the village, and we children walk that road at different times with different dreams."
She remembered her dream of going to college, to return to help her fellow villagers. And later, when she had her college degree, she would definitely return. She knew that going was to grow up, growing up was to return, and returning was to build her homeland.
"When I left, I was a guy who didn't know what to do, but now I can do everything to take care of my family and my father Chieu" - Chai confided about his story.
It can be seen that the crew chose the ending scene quite similar to the opening scene, still the scene of the rice fields in the village where Pu and Chai were born.
In the last episode, the screenwriter built the plot in which Pu and Chai both realized that they had certain changes in their thinking and actions.
Although this is a happy ending, the audience is still not satisfied. Many viewers commented that the ending of the film was quite forced, awkward and intentionally ended to meet the release date.
In particular, the scene where Pu and Chai return to their homeland is considered unconvincing and heavily staged. Even Pu's words are criticized as forced and intentionally inserted into the film to convey a message or slogan.
Pu is still just a student, even during her years on the street, she was caught up in love affairs, conflicts and did not show her great ambition. However, later, the audience criticized the illogical plot when Pu returned to her hometown and was welcomed as an idol despite not having any achievements.
Even Chai, he has not achieved anything yet, he has only just begun to think about starting a business, taking care of his family, his village... But in the end, he has not achieved anything throughout his journey. Everything in Chai's life revolves around Pu.
The audience thinks that if the scene where Pu had graduated and become a pharmacist, and Ta and Chai were the two fashion chain owners as desired, it would be more convincing.
However, many viewers also think that this could be an open ending for the film crew to show part 2, talking about Pu and Chai's lives after they grow up.
