On the evening of June 28, the Opening Ceremony of the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival - DANAFF IV took place at Ariyana Da Nang International Convention Center.
DANAFF IV is co-organized by the Da Nang City People's Committee and the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Cinema Development (VFDA), with the slogan "Bridgeing Asia to the World".
In the film category, DANAFF IV introduces many programs including Asian Films participating in the competition with 13 works from many countries and territories; Vietnamese Films participating in the competition with 11 typical works of Vietnamese cinema in the past two years; Asian Cinema Panorama program including 21 films; Vietnamese Cinema Today program with 26 films of many genres.
In addition to film screenings, DANAFF IV also organizes the program "The Face of Vietnamese Cinema 40 Years of Doi Moi", the US Film Focus program and many international seminars on cinema, artificial intelligence, digital technology and film industry development.
Speaking to direct at the opening ceremony, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra highly appreciated the enthusiasm, creativity and sense of responsibility of the Vietnam Association for Promotion of Cinema and Da Nang City and the community of artists and filmmakers who have built the Da Nang Asian Film Festival into a space to connect, nurture young talents and promote film cooperation in the region.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the Da Nang City People's Committee, relevant ministries and agencies to continue to advise and improve institutions and policies, unlock resources, and create a favorable environment for Vietnamese cinema to develop through talent, creativity, technology and capital.
Continue to elevate the Film Festival, develop a cinema ecosystem associated with culture, tourism and creative industry, making Da Nang an attractive and prestigious destination, with a brand in the region, and at the same time the most friendly gathering place for filmmakers and international film events.
It is necessary to strongly arouse the creative aspirations of the artist team to have more works rich in identity, ideology, art and Vietnamese soul, strong enough to conquer the domestic and international public.
At the same time, build a civilized audience community that loves cinema, is aware of respecting intellectual property rights, copyright and accompanies the development of Vietnamese cinema," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to the Organizing Committee, DANAFF IV is built on four pillars including: Honoring excellent films of Asia and Vietnam; honoring cinematic heritage; discovering, training and supporting young talents; connecting and expanding the Vietnamese film market to the region and the world.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee, Co-Head of the DANAFF IV Organizing Committee emphasized that the Da Nang Asian Film Festival is not only a film event, but also has strategic significance in the process of building the city's cultural brand.
Coming to the fourth organization, DANAFF continues to carry in itself the aspiration to build an international cinema space; where filmmakers, artists, experts, managers, producers, distributors, researchers, film critics and film-loving audiences meet, share, cooperate, create economic values and spread human values," Ms. Thi said.
Leaders of Da Nang City People's Committee expect DANAFF IV to continue to affirm its position as a destination for cultural, artistic and film events; and at the same time make positive contributions to the deep integration of Vietnamese cinema with the region and the world.
DANAFF IV takes place from June 28 to July 4 with the largest scale ever, gathering more than 1,000 delegates, guests from home and abroad, and many prominent names of Asian and Hollywood cinema.
