On June 27, the Organizing Committee of the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV) held a press conference to announce the main activities of the film festival in Da Nang.
DANAFF IV takes place from June 28 to July 4, co-organized by the Da Nang City People's Committee and the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Cinema Development (VFDA), with the slogan "Bridgeing Asia to the World".
According to the Organizing Committee, DANAFF IV is shaped on four pillars including honoring excellent new films from Asia and Vietnam; honoring cinematic heritage; discovering and nurturing young film talents; connecting and expanding the Vietnamese film market to the region and the world.
In the film category, DANAFF IV introduces many programs including Asian Films participating in the competition with 13 works from many countries and territories; Vietnamese Films participating in the competition with 11 typical works of Vietnamese cinema in the past two years; Asian Cinema Panorama program including 21 films; Vietnamese Cinema Today program with 26 films of many genres.
Notably, DANAFF IV has 5 world premieres, 3 international premieres and 5 first-run films in Asia, showing the increasing attraction of the film festival to filmmakers in the region.
In addition to film screenings, DANAFF IV also organizes the program "The Face of Vietnamese Cinema 40 Years of Doi Moi", the US Film Focus program and many international seminars on cinema, artificial intelligence, digital technology and film industry development.
This year, DANAFF continues to expand its film ecosystem with four new initiatives including Script Lab, DANAFF Industry Days, DANAFF's Cinephiles and DANAFF Booth. The DANAFF Talents program also attracted 191 projects submitted, selecting 17 projects to participate in training, connection and project development activities.
DANAFF Industry Days will take place on June 30 and July 1 with the participation of 10 domestic film studios and more than 20 international partners, creating opportunities for connection between production, distribution and investment units in the film industry.
This year's film festival also has the participation of many big names in world cinema along with many famous artists from Korea, Turkey and Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee, Co-Head of the DANAFF IV Organizing Committee said that after 3 editions, the Da Nang Asian Film Festival has gradually affirmed its position as a meaningful cultural and film event of Da Nang city; and also a meeting point for domestic and international film lovers.
Coming to the fourth organization, the film festival continues to express Da Nang's aspiration to build an open, dynamic, and creative cultural space; where cinema is not only honored as an art form, but also as a bridge between people, between cultures, between Da Nang city and regional and international friends," Ms. Thi said.
Within the framework of DANAFF IV, outdoor film screenings will be held in many public places in Da Nang and Hoi An, contributing to bringing cinema closer to people and tourists.
