At a press conference in Hanoi on the afternoon of October 18, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Nhung, Director of the Department of Ethnic Culture, said that the 11th Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of Ethnic Groups in the Northeast region is a large-scale political and cultural event organized by the People's Committee of Lang Son province in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the participation of 8 provinces: Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc, Thai Nguyen and Lang Son province.
The event will be held for 3 days from November 2 to November 4, 2024, associated with the 193rd anniversary of the founding of Lang Son province (November 4, 1831 - November 4, 2024) and the 115th anniversary of the birth of comrade Hoang Van Thu (November 4, 1909 - November 4, 2024).
The opening ceremony of the festival will take place at 8:00 p.m. on November 2 at the main stage of Hung Vuong Street Square, Chi Lang Ward, Lang Son City. From November 1 to November 4 in Lang Son City, a joint opening ceremony of cultural, sports and tourism activities will be held at the side stage of Chi Lang Park, Hung Vuong Street, Chi Lang Ward, Lang Son City.
Cultural activities include: Performances and introductions of festival excerpts and traditional cultural rituals. Exhibition space to introduce and promote local traditional cultural products. Display, processing and introduction of traditional culinary culture. Mass art festival and performance of costumes of ethnic groups in the Northeast region.
Sports activities include: Tug of War, Stick Pushing, Shuttlecock Tossing, Stilt Walking.
Tourism activities include: Tour guide skills demonstration competition; Scientific seminar with the theme: "Cultural tourism in the Northeast - inspiration and development" between 8 Northeast provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Permanent Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People's Committee, said that the organization of this event aims to promote the cultural identity of ethnic groups in the Northeast region, as well as exploit the potential in culture, sports and tourism for promotion and development. In addition, the event also aims to strengthen the spirit of solidarity between the people and the grassroots, helping to overcome difficulties, especially overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
Mr. Nguyen Dang An - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - said that the locality has started decoration work since the beginning of October.
He hopes that through the event, he can promote and attract tourists to Lang Son Geopark, which has just become a UNESCO Global Geopark.
Within the framework of the event, activities will also be carried out to connect 4 routes with 8 tourist destinations, seeking solutions to promote connections and promote strong tourism development between the Northeastern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City.
