The reappearance of the veteran comedian quickly attracted the attention of both professionals and audiences, especially when he accepted to participate in a work described as "weird" and challenging.
According to the sharing from the production crew, persuading Van Son to return to Vietnam to film is not simple at all. The artist said that what made him nod was the bold script idea and multi-layered character structure. The role of Tam OK in the film requires clear psychological changes in each stage. "The beginning, middle and end of the film are very different, so the character's psychology also has to change accordingly. This is a type of role that forces me to put in all my strength," Van Son said.
The behind-the-scenes film reveals the serious working process of the male artist, from studying the character's psychology to physically demanding scenes. Although it has a horror-comedy color, Van Son's role still retains its characteristic charm.
Born into a family with rich artistic traditions, Van Son soon became attached to the stage at the age of 17. He worked in many fields, from comedy, voice acting to cinema. Van Son's name is associated with the golden age of Vietnamese comedy in the 1980s-1990s, and was also loved by audiences through many foreign film voice acting projects. His diverse professional background helps him easily adapt to a complex role like in "Blood Moon Party 8".
Not just a simple return, the project also marks Van Son's first time taking on the main role in a commercial movie in Vietnamese cinemas. He collaborates with a cast of many generations such as Miu Le, Lien Binh Phat, Le Khanh, Hong Anh, Hua Vi Van, Meritorious Artist Duc Khue... All admit that the film script has a strange structure, interwoven between real life and behind-the-scenes stories, making the role-playing process a significant challenge.
The film is directed by Phan Gia Nhat Linh, with Charlie Nguyen as the producer - a duo who have made a mark with many high-grossing works. The crew said that the project's orientation is to blend horror, comedy, action and family psychology elements, creating an emotional cinematic experience.
Currently, "Blood Moon Party 8" is in the post-production stage and is expected to be released in theaters on the occasion of the Ancestral Day and April 30, 2026.
