Controversy from Dong Hung's thank you speech
The incident started when the American Prosecutor Alliance won an operation and had the right to manage the Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai fanpage for 5 hours. During this time, Dong Hung posted a thank you post to the people working behind the program.
The male singer mentioned many departments such as director, music, editor, stage design, cinematographer, media, artist care department, canteen and artist's own crew. However, the post does not directly mention dancers, choreographers and stylists.
After that, some dancers posted statuses and comments on social networks, expressing sadness because they had not been mentioned.
This reaction quickly caused controversy. A part of the audience believes that those who support the program have the right to want their efforts to be recognized, but publicly expressing their attitude towards artists is not appropriate.
Before the debate, Dong Hung continued to have an explanation. He said that the initial purpose was to pay attention to positions in the "dark corners", with few opportunities to appear in the introduction, media or on stage.
The male singer affirmed that he has no intention of denying the contributions of dancers, choreographers or stylists. According to Dong Hung, after each performance, the personnel directly involved are still recognized by the crew and artists. He also emphasized: "Thank you, whether written or spoken, cannot be full of meaning and affection.
However, the matter did not stop at Dong Hung's explanation. The reaction of some backstage personnel continued to cause audience debate, leading to many opinions requesting relevant parties to speak out.
Dancer Kim Anh and OH Dance Team apologize
After the widespread controversy, dancer Kim Anh - one of the people mentioned in the incident officially posted an apology letter on the evening of September 16.
Kim Anh apologized to Dong Hung, the Nguyen To My Man alliance artists, the audience and the entire Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai crew for the statuses she posted on social networks.
Kim Anh admitted that she was "too hasty to let personal emotions overwhelm", not thinking carefully about the circumstances of the thank you post, leading to inappropriate actions.
From the bottom of my heart, Kim Anh has no intention of attacking anyone," she wrote.
Kim Anh also took full responsibility for the content posted, hoping that the audience would give her a chance to correct mistakes and committed that similar events would not be repeated.
At the same time, OH Dance Team - a unit with a dance troupe collaborating with the program - also issued an official announcement.
OH Dance Team confirmed after the thank you post posted on the program's fanpage, "some individuals had posts or inappropriate language". This unit said that the reaction stemmed from a feeling of sadness when the effort was not mentioned, but the related individuals lacked emotional control and did not fully understand the spirit of the post.
OH Dance Team admitted that these statements affected Dong Hung, the Nguyen To My Man alliance artists as well as the overall image of the crew.
Notably, the unit said it will "comprehensively review the crew personnel and collaborating dancers related to the incident", and at the same time have appropriate handling measures.
OH Dance Team also warned that some virtual accounts claiming to be dancers of the unit have appeared even though they have never accompanied the program, and asked the audience not to continue sharing unverified statements.
