"Dan Ca Thuong" is a rare Vietnamese film released in theaters with a duration of only 30 minutes. The film was only sold for a ticket price of 39,000 VND but was ranked by theaters as having more than 1,800 screenings on July 15.
According to Box Office Vietnam, on July 15, the film brought in nearly 1.5 billion VND in revenue, more than double the super hit superstar Superman 2025 (nearly 700 million VND).
"The Wood Fish" is currently top 1 box office revenue on the first day of release.
It is known that "The Wood Fish" was originally a short film. After that, the crew took the project to the theater. The appeal of "Dan Ca Thuong" comes from the soundtrack song called "Phep Hoa". This hit surpassed Bac Bling to top 1 on Billboard Vietnam.
The film "Dan Ca Thuong" is directed by Nguyen Pham Thanh Dat. The male director is known for his independent films and short films in Vietnam today. The film "Dan Ca Thuong" was a work that won the 2024 Golden Kite Award for "Best Short Film".
Meanwhile, the super hit Superman 2025, when released in Vietnamese and international theaters, received a series of positive responses from critics with optimistic expectations.
Based on data from The Box Office Vietnam, "Superman" temporarily ranked top 2 at the Vietnamese box office, with a total revenue of 14.3 billion VND. The film has about 1,700 screenings per day, surpassing many other competitors.
According to Variety, Guardians' total revenue for their first North American release weekend reached $122 million. This achievement makes the film the 3rd biggest debut of 2025, after Acraft Movie (162 million USD) and Lilo & Stitch (146 million USD).
With a production budget of up to 225 million USD and an estimated 100 million USD for promotion, Warner Bros. and DC Studios are betting big on this project.
