The movie "Co choi co chiu" was released on September 12, but quickly fell into a situation of sluggish ticket sales due to having to compete with too many foreign and domestic blockbusters.
After 3 days of the weekend, the film only earned 78 million VND, ranking 9th on the chart - a record low compared to the general level of Vietnamese films this year.
When this project was released, most audiences did not know much because the film crew was poor in communication and the project was not attractive.
Some audiences when released in theaters think that the film has unreasonable content and weak scripts. This leads to the project only being able to sell a low number of tickets in theaters.
However, since yesterday, the film has suddenly become the focus of social networks due to scandals from the cast themselves. At the cinetour sessions, the female lead Cat Phuong publicly criticized the film many times right in front of the audience and director Hoang Anh Duy. She thought that the director was "unprofessional", the script had problems and even affirmed: "I shook my head when I read the script, called for corrections, but I didn't know if I would edit it or not".
The clip of Cat Phuong was posted by the audience on TikTok and received mixed reactions.
Not only Cat Phuong, artist My Duyen also expressed dissatisfaction when her scene was cut. In front of the audience, she mentioned director Anh Duy's name directly: "Don't forget, I put you in that job. But he cuts them so that the audience doesn't understand".
In response to this series of statements, director Hoang Anh Duy immediately responded on social networks. He said that Cat Phuong's act of criticizing the film publicly was "unlucky", not giving constructive comments but causing damage to the crew. The male director emphasized: "The main actor cannot criticize the film right in front of the audience. If you want to comment, call directly. I am willing to listen, but my comments must be in the right situation".
Before the controversy between the director and the cast, the audience was surprised. Some people think that Cat Phuong or My Duyen's comments are not wrong, because they are artists who have gone before and need to give their opinions frankly so that the young male director can improve.
However, there are also some who think that Cat Phuong should not directly criticize the director he is collaborating with, because that is not tact.
